If you are considering re-mortgaging, as a simple check-list.
• Is there a redemption penalty in your old mortgage?
• Is there a penalty for early payment on your new one?
• Will your new lenders require a survey require a survey and if so who pays for it?
• Will the new lenders pay your legal costs?
• If not, do you know what your legal costs may be?
If you are buying, don't forget Stamp Duty Land Tax at 1% of the full price if over £120,000 (or £150,000 in certain cases) but at 3% on prices over ££250,000 and 4% on prices over £500,000.
